Child of Courage Awards 2020
As a school we are always excited to receive an invitation to attend the annual Children of Courage Awards, hosted by the Grantham and Kesteven Rotary Club. The award’s purpose is to recognise children who have demonstrated courage, despite the odds, in overcoming physical, economic, social disabilities or impairment (mental or physical). GANF took pride in nominating Sophie Hall from Ambergate and Theo Wilson from Sandon to receive an award.
The ceremony was held on Wednesday 11th March 2020 at The Urban Hotel, Grantham, and was a wonderful event full of inspiring stories and some very emotive and heart felt speeches. It was lovely to see these brave children receiving the recognition they truly deserve. The event began with a three-course meal and an opportunity to meet and chat with fellow nominees, Rotary Club members and special guest Paralympian Sam Ruddock. Following lunch each of the staff members representing the nominees gave a speech, then a certificate and an award was presented to each child.
Ambergate pupil Sophie Hall was nominated for the bravery she has shown during life changing and challenging circumstances. Sophie has not only managed to continue to smile and work hard at school but has helped to support her Mum during a very difficult time. Mum said Sophie was her star and her rock. We are very proud of how caring and kind Sophie is and of the bravery she has demonstrated.
Sandon Pupil Theo Wilson was nominated for the strength and enthusiasm he has shown each and every day. He is a fantastic role model in class and school, he will go out of his way to help people, both children and staff and he will always notice if someone is upset. He doesn’t let anything in life hold him back and he faces life with bravery and courage.

All the staff and pupils at GANF would like to say a huge congratulations and well done to Sophie and Theo, we are all very proud of them.
